Why we do it !
I started Drone flying & photography to try and keep my mind busy, and not always focusing on work and the stresses of daily life. Whilst enjoying the hobby for pleasure i did have lots of requests to complete certain projects for businesses and individuals, this helped me have something to focus on, and also gain experience.
A couple of charities that i support, also benefited from generous donations made on some of the projects i completed.

Drone Flying & Mental Wellbeing
Drone photography boosts mental wellbeing by encouraging immersion in nature, fostering a "flow state" that reduces anxiety, and providing a fresh perspective that fosters awe and mindfulness. The technical, creative process allows users to focus on the present moment, breaking cycles of daily stress while promoting creativity and boosting self-esteem.
Key mental health benefits of drone photography include:
Mindfulness & Flow: The concentration required to fly a drone and frame shots helps quiet the mind, inducing a "flow" state that lowers anxiety.
Perspective Shift: Aerial views provide a new, often awe-inspiring, perspective of the world, reminding users of their connection to a larger, beautiful, and sometimes fragile ecosystem.
Nature Connection: The hobby encourages spending time outdoors in nature, which is known to lower stress and improve mood.
Creative Expression: It offers a creative outlet, allowing individuals to share their unique vision and feel a sense of accomplishment, which can improve self-esteem.
Emotional Regulation: The process helps in shifting attention away from daily worries, providing a "space to breathe" and sometimes acting as a form of active meditation.
Drone photography can be an accessible form of self-therapy, providing a rewarding distraction and a way to re-engage with the environment.
